I have been making webpages and working on my rank since around 1997 (Pre-google!!)
Figured I’d share my knowledge with the world.
I’ll be refining this a lot later, just want something to be here.
So lets see……
1. Search Engines (esp google) tend to prefer blogs over “real” webpages. Google in particular LOVES the wordpress blogging platform.
2. Get your own domain (and hosting) if you can afford it (and want to deal with the hassle, though it is not really much more work than using something like blogger or tumblr)
3. If you get your own domain, make it as relevent to your content as possible (kungfureviews.com springs to mind) Also purchase for an extended period, minimum of 1 year, though I’ve found 5 year periods to work really nice. (gives an impression of commitment to the bots and spiders)
4. Keyword meta tags have been devalued. Keyword content has not. Title each post with a H1 tag including relevant keywords (in your case, the name of the game). Make sure to mention it at least once per paragraph in the text sections that accompany the video reviews.
5. Use the alt tags for the vids to give relevant descriptions.
6. Build good backlinks everywhere you go (put your url in your sig on every game site that allows it). Also answer as many game related questions as possible on sites like yahoo answers and answers.com
7. Network with other bloggers (like you are doing here)
8. Original content is king (you already have this covered and your tendancy to gravitate towards older, more niche games helps too)
